The Right Path …

Have you ever elevated something you desired to do, above everything else? We have been given the greatest examples to follow. The truth is, for us to get it wrong after what we have been given, means, we never put into practice, that which we had. Enoch in the bible is an example of how to walk in a difficult time. Sin and corruption were rampant in his day, yet the bible says that he walked with God.

His life was a life of faith, a life that spent his time in fellowship with God. He recognized the failure of mankind, trying to live their lives apart from God, and His will. This is a crazy story in the bible, because one day God took him … he had no funeral, he went home; he was translated in a moment. Here, and then gone, just that fast.

Listen to what Genesis 5:24 says:

but Enoch had such a close and intimate relationship with God that one day he just vanished—God took him. (Genesis 5:24 Voice)

A picture is worth a thousand words. We are given a glimpse of a life that pleases God. We are given a picture of perhaps our future, as one day here, next day gone. Remember that God’s word is an illustration book, filled with pictures and stories, to help us live a life that is pleasing to Him.

Enoch speaks to us, in the times that we find ourselves in. Times of darkness, lawlessness, the list seems endless, as to the amount of sin that is around us. Yet in the midst of it we are given an example, of how we too can walk with a life that is pleasing to God. The purpose of Gods word gives us hope, but more than that, it is a clear path for us to follow, and obey. This is how our faith is activated.

Listen to what Hebrews 11:5-6 says:

It was by faith that Enoch was taken up to heaven without dying— “he disappeared, because God took him.” For before he was taken up, he was known as a person who pleased God. And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists, and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him. (Hebrews 11:5–6 NLT)

I would think, that on the day when God called him home, the people, that were the closest to him, were in total shock. They, like us, might have never really understood him, in fact, many would have been the ones who had disqualified him. But the facts were the same … “He is gone! God has called him home; God has taken him”.

We can learn a lot about this, in the fact, that our lives speak volumes to those around us. We, like Enoch need to live a life that is pleasing to God. Our faith, and our daily walk, are what we are responsible for. We are not able to walk out our lives, with the faith that others have. We need to take ownership for the path that we are on, and if we need to make adjustments, now would be a really good time to get started.

Have we studied the scriptures and understand what it is that pleases God? Do we know what it is that displeases Him, and are we living our lives in a manner that brings Glory and Honor unto Him, and His Son Jesus. Have we allowed the Holy Spirit to walk with us, showing us the right path to follow?

Pray this with me: Dear Lord, in the lives that we live, we are bombarded with every form of sin, blatantly in front of us. It parades itself in such a way, that when we stand opposed, we are the odd ones out. Yet, we are walking with you, our friendship is by far the most important part of our lives. Your word is our guide, a proven track record, of what has always worked. Our faith is activated by those who have gone before us, and left a very clear picture of coming events. Your word is a true picture of the events, that will come again, one day.

Listen to what Proverbs 3:32 says:

Verse: For the perverse are an abomination [extremely disgusting and detestable] to the Lord; but His confidential communion, and secret counsel, are with the uncompromisingly righteous, those who are upright, and in right standing with Him. (Proverb 3:32 AMPC)
