One True God
This is a strong statement. One of the strongest that you will ever come across in life, for it leaves no room for debate. This statement declares the beginning and the end. All secular reasoning is worth nothing. Human arguments that we have made about God, fails to the deep ditches we have forged in our own reasoning. This is where we have created a god of our ability to control. In other words, we are the god of our own imagination to the humanistic pride that we all have.
‘Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world— the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life —is not from the Father but is from the world. And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.’ (1 John 2:15-17 ESV)
Our pride is our downfall, for in our eyes we are doing what seems right. As long as we are separated from God, we will have created an idol that we worship with our own reasoning. Success according to the world is no success at all.
There is only one true God, and true success can only be found in Him. The greatest blessing that any one person can ever experience in life, is the moment they encounter the one God, the true God. Humility acknowledges our need of God, a true relationship that is pleasing and honoring.
To know God for ourselves is a life long encounter, where we continually grow in our understanding of who God is.
The greatest tragedy in life, is to go through life, alone separated from God, never acknowledging the need of God. We will all serve something in life, either ourselves or God, but you cannot serve both. The “task master” of this world is filled with unrest, no peace, and feeds on self-centredness. A task master is never satisfied, there is always a demand for more.
As long as we worship the god of self, we will be bound by our version of success. Money, pleasure, ambition, are all fueling our “Task Masters” demand for more. For what the world says is wisdom is actually foolishness in the eyes of God.
As it is written: The cleverness of the know-it-alls becomes the trap that ensnares them. (1 Corinthians 3:19 TPT)
What do you base your life upon, and how do you gauge right and wrong? For most, they do not listen to God’s word, nor do they feel it necessary. There wisdom is based upon what they believe is true, but have nothing to gauge it upon.
Pride comes before the fall. When the world is your gauge for right and wrong, it is on a collision course of destruction. Hard words to swallow. When you are friends with the world you are an enemy of God. Like it was said at the beginning, “You Cannot Serve Both.”
Jesus explained, “I am the Way, I am the Truth, and I am the Life. No one comes next to the Father except through union with me. To know me is to know my Father too (John 14:6 TPT)
This is the only way, the “One true God.” It is this very thing that will bring you to a place of true peace, where this world no longer has a grip on you holding you back from all that you were called to be.
Prayer: Dear Lord please help us to understand that you have such an amazing plan for each of our lives. We were created to have a relationship with you. Help us to see the tragedy that we face when we allow our self-centeredness to stand in the way. Help us all to find our way forward to the other side, where we enter into all that you have planned for each of us.
Verse: “Worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they existed and were created.” (Revelations 4:11 ESV)
